Our Story

We are a small family owned cattery located in Murfreesboro, TN. In 2019, we bought a home on 7.5 acres with big plans for our family and future. Since that time we have fallen in love with Maine Coons and are passionate about preserving the breed. Having this property has allowed us to have ample space and a peaceful enviroment to raise our kittens! We have a luxury Stud Quarters, separate Queens Cattery and 2 Kitten Nurseries.

We breed 100% European Maine Coon Kittens, paying close attention to genetics, pedigrees and overall health history. At Leoninus Cattery, we raise our fur babies in our home to produce well socialized, extremely loved on Maine Coon Kittens. We expose our kittens to a variety of situations including other pets and children to encourage their adaptability in their new homes.

Update: The Lord blessed us with two litters In June of 2024, ready for their forever homes in September!

We also have a deep appreciation for the Arts. Our kitten litters will have names inspired by prestigious artists and their art work. From age-old paintings to more modern graphic design, cats have been stealing the show for centuries. If you were to explore the cat's role in art history, it would appear particular genres and movements have especially favored feline subjects. There's nothing we love more than Cats and Art combined!

The Maine Coon

With their fluffy tails and intriguing personalities; its no wonder the Maine Coon is one of the most popular breeds of pedigreed cats! They certainly have stolen our hearts and that's why we chose the path of a luxury Maine Coon breeder. They are one of the oldest breeds in North America. Maine Coon cats are known for their size. A full grown male cat can grow to be up to 30lbs (average is 15-25 lbs) with females weighing a bit less (average 10-15 lbs). Lovingly called "Gentle Giants" these cats generally reach full size between the ages of 3-5 years old.

Maine Coons tend to have dog like behavior, such as playing fetch and coming when called. They are highly intelligent, good with kids and other animals; as well as easy to train. Maine Coons have funny personality traits, one being an obsession with water; especially running water! They often will dip their paw into their water bowls and lick the water off their paws. You will also find them curled up sleeping in bathtubs and sinks.

At Leoninus Cattery we do extensive DNA testing (Wisdom Panel-Optimal Selection) for over 40 genetic diseases, verify blood type, and echocardiograms (screening for HCM). In an effort to provide full transparency, you can find test results posted on each breeder cats page.

Maine Coons that are of good health and live indoors, typically have a life span of 12-15 years.

European vs American Bloodlines

If you're wondering which Maine Coon is for you, but aren't sure whether you'd prefer European or American. We have made this section for you!

While there aren't many differences between the two, there are some noticeable differences in their appearances and at times their cost.

European & American Maine Coons are the same cat breed, both types have medium to long fur, tufted ears, and large round tufted paws that serve as "snowshoes" during the winter season. They both come in a variety of colors and patterns, but if you compare side by side one vs the other you'll see the European bloodline has a very regal look.

You will notice European cats have a stronger more lion-like chiseled muzzle. American cats more rounded and natural. European cats also have higher cheek bones, larger ears, very prominent tuffs, longer bushier tails. They are bred to have a more "wild" appearance.

American bloodlines have milder features more similar to the average domestic cat.

We at Leoninus Cattery strive to breed the most beautiful majestic Maine Coon kittens; which is why we import all Kings and Queens from Europe.
